Odaiba / お台場

Odaiba / お台場, literally means “ platform place ”, is located on the waterfront across the Rainbow Bridge. During the Edo period, marine batteries were placed here by the TOKUGAWA shogunate to repel foreign ships.
Now, it is full of commercial and amusement facilities. At twilight time, you can enjoy a view of twinkling Tokyo city lights and the lit-up Rainbow Bridge. This suspension bridge, opened in 1993, connects central Tokyo and Odaiba. It is 798 meters in length and carries three transportation lines on the two decks, including the Yurikamome Line, new automated transportation system began operating in 1995.
And there is also a promenade along the bridge. From the south side you can see FUJI TV Headquarters building in Odaiba, and from the north side you will enjoy a view of Tokyo water front area with Tokyo Tower.
